High School Therapy Group: Navigating Life with Confidence

High School Therapy Group

High school is a time of change, self-discovery, and personal growth. It’s a period filled with exciting opportunities but also unique challenges—academic pressures, shifting friendships, social expectations, and the constant balancing act of school and personal life. Our High School Therapy Group is designed for students in grades 9-12 who want a safe and supportive space to explore these experiences, connect with others, and build confidence in navigating their social world.

This group meets every other Thursday at 6pm and is led by Brad Bernstein, LCPC. For more information and to sign up click here.

Benefits of a High School Therapy Group

This group is ideal for students who are willing and wanting to engage in meaningful conversations about their high school journey. Whether you find social situations overwhelming, struggle with making or maintaining friendships, or simply want a space to share and reflect, this group offers a place where you can feel heard and understood. We’ll discuss topics such as:

  • Managing social anxiety in school, social settings, and peer interactions

  • Navigating friendships—building, maintaining, and handling conflicts

  • Understanding social dynamics in high school, including cliques, peer pressure, and digital communication

  • Building self-confidence in social situations and daily interactions

  • Handling stress and expectations related to academics, extracurriculars, and personal life

This space fosters authentic conversation, reflection, and support from peers who share similar experiences. While we may touch on communication strategies and ways to feel more comfortable in social settings, the emphasis is on open discussion rather than formal skills training.

Each session will include guided discussions, interactive activities, and reflection exercises tailored to the group’s interests and needs. Some sessions may involve role-playing social scenarios, while others may focus on processing personal experiences, brainstorming solutions to social challenges, or exploring ways to manage anxiety in real-world situations. The goal is not to “fix” social struggles but to build insight, develop confidence, and foster connection in a low-pressure, judgment-free environment.

Above all, this group is a supportive community. It’s a place to be yourself, share your thoughts freely, and know that you’re not alone in the challenges you face. High school can feel overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to navigate it on your own. Through shared experiences and meaningful discussions, this group provides the opportunity to grow, connect, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

If you’re looking for a space where you can openly discuss social challenges, reflect on your experiences, and connect with peers who understand, we invite you to join us. Together, we’ll explore what it means to navigate high school’s social landscape with confidence, self-awareness, and support. The group meets biweekly on Thursdays at 6pm.
